The Swordfish Harpooner was made by Jay Lagemann for the Chilmark Tricentennial in 1994. In 1996 Jay made a two foot high wax version which he took to a wookship at the Johnson Atelier in New Jersey. There he learned all about sprewing and gating and the ceramic shell process. When the workshop was over the wax model was “lost” and replaced with a cast bronze sculpture. The half sized small Swordfish Harpooner was created a dozen years later due to popular demand.
